Google used to offer domain registration services via Google Domains, but they shut it down a few years ago after Squarespace acquired their domain business. You can’t buy domain names from Google anymore, at least not directly. Some Google services, like Workspace, still allow you to registrar a domain, but they just function as a reseller of Squarespace. So the registrar will actually be Squarespace but your domain will be managed at Google. I don’t recommend doing that.

I’ve been registering domain names for ages, and I’ve used many registrars from all over the world. Unlike web hosting providers, I don’t have much to complain about regarding all the domain providers I’ve been with, but things like renewal pricing and control panel features can make a difference. These are the providers that top my personal list these days: Spaceship is cheapest domain registrar I’ve been using lately and it’s my most favorite one as of 2026.

There are countless sites where you can register a .co.uk domain name, and I’ve personally tried lots of them. Most of the time, I just register the domain, set up nameservers (DNS), enabled auto-renewal, and forget about it. I’ve never had to deal with any domain-related issues at almost all of the registrars I’ve used as far as I can remember. Price is one of the factors I look at, but support and trust are more important.
