Nuevamente, el gobierno del presidente Donald Trump plantea aplicar un arancel general de 25 por ciento a los automóviles no producidos en Estados Unidos, incluidos los importados desde México, con potencial efecto a partir de ayer 2 de abril. Aún no es claro si esa tasa se aplicará al valor total de los vehículos producidos en México, al valor agregado que no provenga de Estados Unidos, o al valor agregado que no provenga del T-MEC.
