Despite the numerous convoluted and troublesome circumstances in Bridgerton Season 4 and Episode 7, Violet Bridgerton tells her son to pursue love before it is too late. Running out of time in the race for romance is perhaps a tale as old as imagination itself. However, as a quarrelsome young woman, I must shove my measly two cents onto the screen of my dearest gentle reader. If there is one thing being an international student taught me, it is that we stop giving a fuck about time.

The challenge of socialising whilst keeping up with work  was the main thing on my mind last year. In retrospect, I have no regrets; my first year of university was undoubtedly the best year of my life thus far, a statement which I am beyond fortunate to be able to say.

How does one write a lament? Laments are reflections, an ardent resistance to forgetting. Ancient poems speak of destroyed temples, city-gods tumbled down from their sacred seats and shattered into pinpricks of light. They speak of empty markets, and vacant streets, of exile and silence, and more importantly, memory. Deep yearning suffuses these verses, such acute suffering. I wonder, then, if a return to better times is not unique to abandoned cities and desecrated holy sites.
