The effect of lyophilised oral faecal microbial transplantation on functional outcomes in dogs with diabetes mellitus
INTRODUCTION Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the most common endocrine diseases in dogs, with a prevalence ranging between 0.15% and 1.33% (Davison et al., 2005; Fracassi et al., 2004; Guptill et al., 2003; Mattin et al., 2014; Wiles et al., 2017). In most diabetic dogs, beta-cells are lost, leading to a deficiency in insulin production and an absolute requirement for exogenous insulin.
