1 Introduction Markets respond to what they can observe, yet critical innovation choices stay hidden behind the veil of a firm's R&D. Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) disclosure sits at this boundary: it can be dismissed as cheap talk or, if credible, shape investment and innovation decisions. This study asks whether transparent environmental reporting steers firms toward greener innovation.
