1. Introduction Cancer is a chronic disease that poses a global public health problem, being the leading cause of death worldwide with an increasing trend each year. The World Health Organization (WHO) found that in 2018, there were 18.1 million new cancer cases and 9.6 million cancer-related deaths [1]. The top-five common cancers globally are lung cancer, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, and stomach cancer [2].

Introduction Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), a chronic non-communicable disease, currently represents a significant global public health challenge, with its prevalence steadily increasing each year [1]. There were 537 million individuals diagnosed with diabetes worldwide in 2021, a figure projected to rise to 643 million by 2030 and 783 million by 2045 [2].
