1 Introduction Adrenomedullin (ADM) is a potent vasoactive peptide that exerts numerous physiologic effects and is produced by several mammalian tissues, such as bones, lungs, heart, kidneys, adrenal gland, vessels, fat and brain as well [1-3]. It is released by almost all types of cells, including fibroblasts, endothelial cells, myocardiocytes and neuronal cells, both neurons and glia.
