Infectious pseudoaneurysm of the apex of the left cardiac ventricle in a drug addict patient: report of a case

A 43-year-old patient presented to the emergency room due to chest pain, loss of consciousness and an episode of pyrexia. The assessment quickly revealed an infectious pseudoaneurysm of 4.5 cm of the left ventricle apex. The patient underwent emergency cardiac surgery with a large resection of the apical left ventricular cardiac tissues. The surgical reconstruction was performed using a bovine pericardial patch.

Bilateral Internal Thoracic Artery Configuration for Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

Methods and Results—We randomly assigned 304 patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting using BITA to either in situ or Y grafting configurations. The primary end point was 3-year angiographic patency. Secondary end points included major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (ie, death from any cause, stroke, myocardial infarction, or repeat revascularization) at 7 years.
