Pat Cassels’s Biography

Pat Cassels is an Emmy-winning screenwriter, comedy writer, and essayist known for his work on the TBS series "Full Frontal with Samantha Bee," where he wrote for seven seasons. Full Frontal was nominated for 11 Primetime Emmys, the Critics’ Choice Award, the Writers Guild Award, the Television Critics Association Award, the GLAAD Media Award, and an MTV Movie & TV Award. It was called a best show of the year by The New York Times, A.V. Club, The Ringer, and Variety.

Cassels is a contributor to The New Yorker and a columnist for Atlas Obscura, and his work has appeared in The New York Times, Slate, Oxford American, and Los Angeles Review of Books. In 2026, his horror writing was shortlisted for the Bram Stoker Award.

A founding cast member and head writer of the influential comedy studio CollegeHumor (re-branded as Dropout in 2023), Cassels has also worked on the hit Amazon Prime series "Good Sports" starring Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson. Other television credits include "Adam Ruins Everything," "Troopers" (starring Aubrey Plaza) "Bad Internet" (starring Jean Smart and Britt Lower), and "The Britishes."

He is a two-time recipient of the Writers Guild Award, and has been nominated for the Emmy seven times, winning once.

Before writing full time, Pat washed dishes in the Catskills and sold cheese for Hickory Farms. He also worked at the Renaissance Faire. Yes, he wore pantaloons.
