We have previously reported the use of microfine UHMWPE to control the distribution pattern of fillers in UHMWPE nanocomposites. (21) For instance, when microfine UHMWPE was used as the matrix alone, it promoted a homogeneous distribution of the fillers, in contrast to the typical segregated structure observed when commercial UHMWPE was used as the matrix.
