It feels like only yesterday that AEW was kicking off 2023 with a total makeover, as the company launched new graphics and a brand new production design. Since then, the company has had yet another rollercoaster year, much like 2022. With the major highs such as All In at Wembley Stadium to the surreal lows of CM Punk being fired following a second backstage fight, All Elite Wrestling hasn't had an easy year.

While women's wrestling has continued to thrive outside of WWE & AEW, with great showings within the Knockouts Division of Impact Wrestling, as well as over in Japan, women's wrestling as a whole is at a weird place in 2023. After spending decades being treated as nothing more than eye candy on TV, women's wrestlers finally got the chance to show they are just as talented as their male counterparts within WWE following massive fan support in the mid 2010s.

AEW's women's division has a strong roster but is not utilized effectively, resulting in lackluster presentation and booking. The division lacks compelling storylines, with a lack of direction and focus on The Outcasts and Jade Cargill's TBS Title reign. Both AEW and WWE can learn from Impact Wrestling's Knockouts Division, which excels in character development, multiple feuds, and treating female wrestlers as equals to their male counterparts.
