Patrick Nelson
Patrick Nelson’s Biography
I write articles about emerging business and industrial technology such as AI, Industrial Internet of Things, future networks, compute platforms and Internet for a predominantly high-tech-intensive readership.
Roughly, my beat is deep-technology and future-tech for analog businesses who are migrating to digital, and for digital-first businesses. Much of this is interesting to tech-savvy consumers too.
Future of networking, automation, antennas, light-based computing, energy storage, sensors and ambient intelligence are examples of topics I have covered at enterprise-oriented Network World (https://www.networkworld.com/blog/the-disruptor/). Scoops include how terahertz spectrum will be used for the next generation of wireless networks.
I’ve recently been providing written-coverage for SiliconANGLE’s TheCUBE video channel (https://siliconangle.com/author/patricknelson/) covering deep-tech enterprise digitization topics such as the adoption of cloud, Web3, data engineering, dev-ops, cybersecurity and microservices. I have been prolific, writing about analytics, scaling and costs; along with topics such as observability and shifts in infrastructure and workload methodology. Scoops include how the Russia-Ukraine war was predicted by military analysts through the detection of increasing levels of cybersecurity incidents.
Longer-form writing has included material on Industry 4.0 smart supply-chain; and explainer material for IBM about Artificial Intelligence. Pet subjects include materials science and the merger of chemistry and electronics.
I hold permanent work authorization for EU, UK and US. I am a native English speaker.
