How one family made this 'life-saving' home energy decision
Our family used to pay at least $600 a month for electricity. Obviously that had to stop. Now, after investing in a solar system and a battery, I pay about $65 a month. Families are unique. Mine’s no different. I’m a dad with physical disabilities caused by a neurological condition and a parent of a son with an intellectual disability. Creating a home environment where we can both do the things we need requires a lot of electricity. Now it no longer requires an enormous electricity bill.
Rise in sexually transmitted infection syphilis puts health authorities in the Kimberley on high alert
Health authorities across WA are stepping up their fight against the potential fatal sexually transmitted disease syphilis amid a rise in cases in the Kimberley this year. Syphilis is preventable, says the WA Health Department, and it has launched an advertising campaign across affected regions of the State to get the message across. Syphilis notifications in WA rose to 680 in in 2024-25, up from 653 the previous year.
