More than 100 people gathered outside City of Powell River Council chambers to protest the prospect of homelessness encampment in city parks. Prior to the June 30 committee of the whole meeting, protest organizer Pat Martin said in the city hall parking lot that the protest did not reflect a lack of compassion for people experiencing homelessness. “Everyone wants to see those in need receive help,” said Martin.

Powell River motorcyclist outlines ferry problems

qathet Regional District (qRD) will bring up the difficulties that motorcyclists face when trying to board Salish class ferries between Westview and Little River. The regional district received correspondence from Ryan Kolba outlining the difficulties motorcyclists face on the route. “Motorcycle riders are currently unable to reserve sailings on this route and are therefore dependent on standby access,” stated Kolba in his correspondence.
