Legislators approve pausing new property values

A bill that would block Guilford and Davidson counties’ governments from using the new property values in their recent countywide revaluation for the upcoming fiscal year was approved by the N.C. General Assembly on Wednesday afternoon, just three weeks before the county budget needs to be in place. The state House approved Senate Bill 889 by a vote of 72-41. The Senate previously approved the measure by a vote of 35-8. The legislation now goes to Democratic Gov. Josh Stein for his approval or veto.
