The State of Open Data 2019 report is the fourth in the series and includes survey results and a collection of articles from global industry experts. It is now the longest running longitudinal study on the subject, which was created in 2016 to examine attitudes and experiences of researchers working with open data – sharing it, reusing it, and redistributing it. This year’s survey received a record number of survey participants with around 8,500 responses from the research community.

The atmospheric impacts of volcanic ash from explosive eruptions are rarely considered alongside those of volcanogenic gases/aerosols. While airborne particles provide solid surfaces for chemical reactions with trace gases in the atmosphere, the reactivity of airborne ash has seldom been investigated. Here we determine the total uptake capacity (N M) and initial uptake coefficient (?

Volcanic ash supports a diverse bacterial community in a marine mesocosm Geobiology By: Verena Witt, Paul M Ayris, David Damby, Corrado Cimarelli, Ulrich Kueppers, Donald B Dingwell, and Gert W??rheide Links Abstract Shallow-water coral reef ecosystems, particularly those already impaired by anthropogenic pressures, may be highly sensitive to disturbances from natural catastrophic events, such as volcanic eruptions.
