Abrams used the Ocean State as a backdrop for films that many anticipate will be blockbusters when released next year. This year has been noteworthy for a different reason: The spring saw three women writer-directors beginning their first feature films here.

Judge denies 'Ghost Hunters' star's request in Conjuring House case Original

July 26, 2026, 5:07 a.m. ET A Massachusetts Superior Court judge has denied "Ghost Hunters" TV star Jason Hawes' request to block two women from giving depositions in a case related to the Conjuring House, which Hawes said in court papers are scheduled for Monday, July 27. On Tuesday, July 21, Hawes filed three motions, the two regarding the depositions, plus one asking to be made part of a case between a company formed by YouTuber Elton Castee and former Conjuring House owner Jacqueline Nuñez.
