LOS ANGELES, CA — Val Kilmer, a versatile actor who played several iconic roles during his career, died Tuesday from pneumonia. He was 65. Kilmer’s breakout role was in 1986 in his third film, Top Gun, where he played hotshot pilot Iceman. In 1991, Kilmer starred as singer Jim Morrison in The Doors, which gained him acclaim for his acting range and commitment to the role. He’s perhaps most beloved for his legendary portrayal of Doc Holliday in the film Tombstone in 1993.
