Abstract Access to climate-resilient rice varieties is vital for strengthening smallholder resilience to erratic weather and water stress. To generate field-level evidence for varietal recommendation and seed scaling, 25 entries (13 advanced IRRI breeding lines and 12 released varieties) were evaluated under farmer-managed upland conditions in Odisha, India, during Kharif 2022.

1. Introduction Agricultural intensification is widely accepted as a viable solution to address the increasing demand for food worldwide rather than expanding the area under cultivation [1]. The need for higher production can be met through higher yields from the same land, as an increase in the cropland results in a distressing environment [2].
