1. Introduction Heart failure (HF) is a worldwide burden that affects around 26 million individuals. Approximately half of all HF patients present with a preserved left ventricular ejection fraction (HFpEF; LVEF greater than 50%), and the prevalence is increasing (around 10% per decade) due to an aging population and an increase in other risk factors such as diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension, and sedentary lifestyle [1,2].
