3.4.1. Bionic Self-Adhesive Molecule-Polyphenol Mussels are marine organisms that inhabit humid environments. To counteract the lift forces generated by crashing and washing waves, they secrete byssal threads and adhesive plaques from their feet, enabling firm attachment to various substrates ( Figure 9 a). Studies have revealed that the remarkable wet adhesion of mussels primarily originates from the structure of mussel foot proteins (Mfps).
