Methylation profiling reveals epigenetic programs associated with chr18 loss in small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors
Abstract Introduction: Small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NETs) are characterized by a low mutational burden and limited recurrent driver mutations, suggesting that other mechanisms contribute to tumor development. One of the most frequent genomic alterations in SI-NETs is loss of heterozygosity on chromosome 18 (chr18del), which defines a major molecular subtype. However, the epigenetic consequences of this event remain poorly understood.
Primary aldosteronism: improving screening-based diagnostics and treatment
Nyckelord: MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; primary aldosteronism; diagnostics; treatment; surgery; screening; primary care; biomarkers; microRNA; proteomics; prevalence; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science; Sammanfattning: Primary aldosteronism (PA, non-physiologic adrenal overproduction of aldosterone) causes about 10% of arterial hypertension, and substantially elevates morbidity and cardiovascular mortality compared to primary hypertension (HT) alone.
A single-cell transcriptomic comparison between small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors and their progenitor
Abstract Several studies have attempted to find the initiating drivers of small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NET) development and the molecular mechanisms driving progression and metastatic spread. For gene expression studies using bulk microarrays and RNA sequencing, researchers commonly use normal intestinal mucosa as a control. The intestine is made up of several different cell types, and using bulk RNA-seq may generate findings that reflect factors other than the tumor transformation.
Radiation dosimetry of para-chloro-2-[18F]fluoroethyl-etomidate: a PET tracer for adrenocortical imaging - EJNMMI Research
Nine patients with a range of adrenal pathologies (primary aldosteronism, cortisol-producing adenoma, non-functioning adrenal adenoma) were included in this study (mean age 54, range 44–68 years; four females & five males). Patient characteristics are given in Table 1. [18F]CETO was produced according to previously described methods [13].
