Federal School Vouchers Offer Little Flexibility For States Original
Since Congress passed President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill with its federal school voucher, questions have abounded about the exact form that the tax credit program would take. Today the Treasury Department released proposed rules for the voucher program, and some of those questions are being answered. One of the persistent questions has been how much flexibility will states have in how the program is administered.
How Did Computer Tech Giants Commandeer America’s Classrooms Original
What's lost in this forest? getty In Coding Kids, journalist Natasha Singer tells the story of how computer education became “a handy vector for tech giants to capture the classroom.” Singer places the drive to put computer education--in a particular form--inside classrooms in the context of an industry that was growing rapidly, worried about finding personnel to fuel that growth even as some folks pointed out that women and Blacks were underrepresented in the industry.

In Oklahoma, Another Brick In The Wall Between Church And State Totters Original
It is taking a real beating. getty Oklahoma is once again the site of a crucial court battle over whether or not taxpayers can be required to fund a religious charter school. And this time, the court is backing the religious charter. In March 2026, the Oklahoma Charter School Board rejected an application for a Jewish virtual charter school from the Ben Gamla Jewish Charter School, a Florida-based Jewish charter school chain that already operates charter schools in that state.
The Call For School Voucher Accountability Original
The Public Affairs Research Council of Alabama just released a survey from their Education Research Center, including questions that measured support for the state’s taxpayer-funded voucher program. And while many Alabamians support the program, many more would like to see it attached to some measures that would level the playing field for private and public schools.
Anti-Democracy In America
The through line for MAGA politics is simple enough. Some people are better than others, and everything wrong with this country can be traced to efforts to lift up people who do not deserve to be lifted up. Poor people are poor because they deserve to be poor, and policy efforts to lift them up are bad and wrong (so axe the social safety net).
From Hedge Fund To Alternatives Platform: How US Managers Are Pursuing Growth And Stability
09/21/26 Judging by the headline numbers, the hedge fund industry has never been healthier. Total industry capital reached record levels through the second quarter of 2026 (approaching an estimated $5.6 trillion), with first half returns the strongest in several years. ...
Don’t Use AI To Edit Writing
While teachers largely agree that Large Language Model AI such as ChatGPT or Claude should not be used by students to write entire assignments, there is another school of thought that AI can be used by students to "help" with writing assignments, including the use of AI to edit or "clean up" a student rough draft. A new research paper suggests that's a bad idea.

10 Instructional Illusions Original
Your classroom is around here somewhere getty In their book Instructional Illusions, Paul Kirschner, Carl Hendrick and Jim Heal argue that one defining characteristic of human learning is that “what we think works or is good for learning and what actually works or is good for learning are often some distance apart.” They set out to describe “illusions, not myths” and are clear up front that they don’t consider teachers or teaching “to be engaged in any deliberate act of deception.” In other...

Will Federal Vouchers Usher In A New Era Of School Voucher Regulation? Original
More guard rails, please. getty State level school vouchers have enjoyed a period of growth largely free from regulation and oversight, but the advent of federal vouchers has the potential to change that.
