A Co Londonderry woman whose husband was crushed to death while at work in 2023 says that the £160,000 fine handed to his employer is a 'drop in the ocean' compared to her grief. Colin Thomas died in April 2023 at the manufacturing company Tobermore in what the Health and Safety Executive described as a "tragic and wholly preventable" incident. In February 2025, Tobermore pleaded guilty to a single health and safety offence of failing to ensure the health, safety and welfare of its employees.

Four weeks of commemorative hearings are set to begin at a public inquiry in Omagh to hear from those affected by the 1998 Real IRA bombing. The attack claimed the lives of 29 people, including a woman pregnant with unborn twins. It was the worst single atrocity of the Troubles in terms of its death toll. Across the first two weeks of the hearings at the Omagh Bomb Public Inquiry, each one of the 29 victims will be commemorated.

Exclusive The woman raped by a soldier from Londonderry says she feels safer now that her attacker Kielan Mooney has been jailed. UTV has spoken exclusively to the woman, who says she wants to be known as a survivor. Mooney, who was a soldier in the Irish Army was sentenced to eight-and-a-half years in prison. It comes as a former Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council resigned from the SDLP after he provided a character reference for Mooney.
