Matheus Fernandes – that’s it. What next?
Let’s start with the bad news. When assessing Fernandes, it’s clearly worth disregarding claims about him being a ‘Championship player’ and his two consecutive relegations; these say very little about his personal skill set and individual statistics. Statistically, Fernandes in 2025/26 is on a par with Anderson in 2024/25 and Guimarães before his transfer to Newcastle, whilst his passing statistics match those of Gravenberch’s championship-winning form.

Barcelona exploring new loan with a mandatory buy-option for Marcus Rashford - reports
Marcus Rashford is gaining traction at Barcelona over a permanent move following his impactful loan spell this season. While they were initially reluctant to trigger his €30 million buy-out clause set by Manchester United, Barca are now pushing to keep the English forward at Hansi Flick’s request. The German manager views Rashford as the strongest option for the left-wing position after being not fully convinced by the alternative options on the market.

'I just want to compete': Fernandes sets clear demand over Man United future
Bruno Fernandes has made clear that his Manchester United future depends on the club’s ability to remain competitive at the highest level. The United captain says players join the club with the expectation of fighting for trophies, even if the reality has not always matched that ambition in recent seasons. “Everyone who comes to Man United wants to win every trophy,” Fernandes said.
Manchester United have been drawn into a fresh goalkeeping debate after a revealing statistical comparison between Senne Lammens and Andre Onana. Lammens has reportedly claimed 26 crosses in just 25 appearances, already surpassing Onana’s total from last season despite featuring in fewer matches. The figure has quickly circulated as a talking point around standards in United’s penalty area.

Tyrell Malacia is likely to leave Old Trafford, while Patrick Dorgu is seen as a more advanced option, further increasing the need for reinforcement at full-back.

Demystifying the public sector’s flood risk challenges
The climate risks posed to public sector infrastructure planning are unlike anything we have ever seen. And, as damage figures continue to climb, more scrutiny is being placed on the public sector’s abilities to adapt to emerging catastrophe risks – particularly when it comes to flooding. Insured losses from natural catastrophes are projected to approach globally in 2025. These losses have been growing at an average annual rate of 5 to 7% in real terms, and flooding is a major contributor.

Cole Palmer 'untouchable' and happy at Chelsea despite Man United links - Sky Sports
According to Sky Sports, rumours that Cole Palmer is unsettled in London and open to leaving Chelsea for Man United are wide of the mark. The attacking midfielder is said to be happy at Stamford Bridge, where he is considered an 'untouchable' player. He is naturally frustrated with his fitness problems, as the groin injury has bothered him throughout the season. However, with his contract expiring in 2033, both Palmer and Chelsea see his future in west London rather than anywhere else.

How to navigate travel disruptions while enhancing customer experiences
Research has found it takes a flight delay of just 64 minutes for passengers to become agitated and, in the era of social media, it takes less than seconds for this frustration to be posted on multiple social media platforms, causing a significant amount of reputational damage to an airline and the aviation sector. The recent global software outage, which led to grounded flights and caused widespread travel chaos, highlights the inevitability of disruptions in the aviation industry.
Disaster response planning around the globe
By Peter Slater, Engineering, Fathom Why does it take so long to deliver national infrastructure? Lets take, for example, a new port on the Mediterranean coastline. Any change to the natural and built environment has a significant impact on its local surrounding, not just commercially and environmentally, but practically too. Is there sufficient power in the grid to meet this new demand? Can the local transport infrastructure handle the increase in transit? What about the hospitals? The sewers?

What will the EV battery of the future look like?
“Gigafactories” could one day be churning out millions of electric vehicle batteries in the UK. The government has already committed the country toa banon selling new petrol- and diesel-engined cars by 2030, so it seems that electric vehicles (or EVs, as they’re often abbreviated) are likely to replace much of today’s fleet.

Why a Peak District village is raising money for a wildflower meadow
Foolow is a tiny settlement of around 50 houses in the Derbyshire Peak District. It’s in a conservation area within the National Park and for some years now it’s been fighting to stop the National Park Authority from allowing a permanent caravan site to be established in two fields at the edge of the village. The site – previously a small caravan site for a local farmer – was mistakenly given permission by the park as a site for static caravans.

Exploring the mixed transport properties of sulfur (VI)-doped Ba2In2O5 for intermediate-temperature electrochemical applications
Sulfur (VI)-doped Ba2In2O5+δ was synthesised by solid state reaction. A stabilised orthorhombic perovskite could be achieved at low-temperature by the introduction of a sulfur content of x=0.2 in Ba2In2-xSxO5+δ. The mixed (electronic-protonic-oxide-ionic) conducting properties of this composition were investigated in detail for potential interest in a wide range of membrane applications including Protonic Ceramic Fuel Cells.
Effect of tri- and tetravalent metal doping on the electrochemical properties of lanthanum tungstate proton conductors
Rare-earth tungstates (La28-yW4+yO54+δ□2-δ) have attracted attention in last years because of their relatively high proton-electron conductivity and high stability in a CO2 environment. Since doping on the tungsten-site may increase the conductivity, a new series of compounds with composition La5.5W1-xMxO11.25- (M= Al, Ti and Zr; x=0, 0.05 and 0.10) have been investigated.
Scouts on Assignment: Peter Slater's Wrap-Up
THE WRAP-UP: AUGUST 4–AUGUST 7 Overall the Jamboree was a once in a lifetime opportunity that I will not soon forget. I was able to explore all of the wonders of scouting in one place. I wish there had been more time; scouting offers so much that the 10 days of Jamboree just wasn't enough to be able to try everything. I also had fun touring after the Jamboree.
Scouts on Assignment: Peter Slater's Jamboree Report
Boy Scouts take part in one of the Jamboree’s most popular “unofficial” activities: trading patches. Each Boy Scout Council from across the U.S. creates a group of patches; the boys are given one set but can buy additional sets to trade. Scouts also bring their patches from past Jamborees to show and trade. THE JAMBOREE: JULY 27-AUGUST 4 During the days we mostly worked on activities like scuba, pioneering, BMX, rifles and snorkeling.
