Solo Northern Series sponsored by Winder Boats at Budworth Sailing Club by Philip Barnes 7 Oct 06:22 BST The centre of Storm Amy had tracked to the north of the country leaving a very gusty 20 to 35kt north-westerly forecast for Budworth. As visitors arrived and rigged boats, the conditions were pretty wild with steady 30+kts on the far side of the mere. This was the last open meeting of the Solo Northern Area and series decider with Steve Denison and Martin Honnor both able to win.

Class captain and organiser, Bob Mosedale, even agreed to give Chris Gillard an early morning call at 6am following Chris' request. Driving to West Kirby on an amazing sunny morning with the promise of sailing in open water on the sea was exciting.

Coeval Transverse and Axial Sediment Delivery to the Northern Hikurangi Trough During the Late Quaternary

Summary Transverse sediment delivery has been the primary driver of sediment accumulation in the northern Hikurangi Trough over the past 42,000 years, particularly during the sea level lowstand of MIS2. The formation of large-scale bedforms, including sediment waves and erosional scours, are linked to sedimentary gravity flows from the Māhia Canyon. Axial sediment transport via the Hikurangi Channel has contributed but is less significant in comparison to transverse flows.
