1 Introduction Radiation-induced oral mucositis (RIOM) is a major adverse effect experienced by head and neck cancer (HNC) patients, resulting from injury to the mucosal barrier caused by radiotherapy. The symptoms include oral pain, discomfort, dysphagia, dysfunction, and psychosocial distress [1, 2]. Additionally, irradiated tissue is prone to infections, notably oral candidiasis, which increases in prevalence throughout radiotherapy.
