What was your first job as a journalist?

Surrey Comet local newspaper

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes. I started out using typewriters and TippEx. Could never have imagined then the technology we have now

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Imagination, experience, creativity, perseverance and income

Why did you become a journalist?

English and writing were among the few things I was quite good at as a youngster. And I’m naturally curious.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

Edited my prep school magazine. Created a magazine at the school I taught at in my GAP Year

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Never give up. Keep records of all your contacts.

What's your favorite drink?

Water. I only drink water.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

On the phone

All the national tabloids
