We all have that place/city we grew up in, and eventually grew out of. A major chunk of my childhood and teenage years were spent in Lucknow; the city I call my home. The years went by and I hardly noticed it, as I was too focused on growing up, and following the path I had envisioned for myself. All those years, I spent with my nose in a book or a textbook, with academics being my only focus. The city was always there and I took that for granted.

The illusion of endless romantic options is plaguing this generation I am not looking to sound controversial, but the number of times I’ve been hit on, and chased by men who were either committed, engaged to marry, or married (sometimes, even to the point where it can be considered harassment) while their partners stay completely oblivious makes it to my list of top 10 reasons why I think marriage in this generation, is not all that it’s made out to be.

I have observed an interesting yet painful pattern in life, which is, after every 3–4 years, we are made to question our life- long held beliefs all over again. And there is a whole new pile of questions and obstacles waiting for us at the the threshold of crossing that said period, even though we have barely managed to figure out the earlier ones. This time period may vary. Like, for you it could be 2 years, whereas, for your friend it could be 4 or 5 years.
