1 INTRODUCTION Vascular diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases and stroke, are the leading cause of death and disability in the world [1]. The onset of these diseases is often preceded by conditions such as peripheral arterial disease (PAD), which either indicate an increased risk or are a direct contributor to an impending heart attack or stroke [2]. PAD is characterized by varying degrees of atherosclerosis (plaque formation) in the arteries of the lower extremities.

Abstract Understanding brain-wide hemodynamic responses to different stimuli at high spatiotemporal resolutions can help study neuro-disorders and brain functions. However, the existing brain imaging technologies have limited resolution, sensitivity, imaging depth and provide information about only one or two hemodynamic parameters.
