1. Introduction Excessive water production is a persistent challenge in the oil and gas industry, particularly in mature reservoirs where water–oil ratios (WORs) often exceed 4:1 and, in some cases, even reach values as high as 7:1 [1]. This excessive water reduces oil recovery efficiency, increases operational costs, and places additional strain on water treatment systems.
