Is this a #DemShutdown? Congress hasn’t passed an actual budget since the last time Democrats controlled both Chambers + the White House. Now Republicans do, yet they can’t even pass a continuing resolution to keep spending at that budget’s levels.
5) Republicans suck at governing, Democrats suck at winning--that's the fundamental truth that explains why we're in this situation today. And I mean that in a bigger way than about just the CR.
4) #CHIPfunding lapsed months ago, leaving states dangling, but @SenateMajLdr wanted to use kids' health as leverage so he could blame Democrats for his party's incompetence. And he's succeeded, judging by the NYT's "Democrats blocked..." story last night.

3)...they thought it was more important to try and take away millions of people's health insurance and cut taxes for billionaires than to allocate agency funds according to current needs. & this week they couldn't even get all their members to agree on keeping the govt running.
