What is the 24-Hour Challenge? The 24-Hour Challenge is Rice University’s annual day of giving! On April 11, 2024, the Rice community will unite to support a singular student experience, contributing to the resources and opportunities that make up the best possible educational experience. Gifts can be directed to a school, residential college, research initiative, student club or any area on campus that means the most to you.

Through wars and pandemics and everything in between, the Rice Thresher has tirelessly reported on the state of the campus and its students for well over a century. It takes some 75 students to produce each weekly issue. We strive to pay every student who contributes, which is where we need your help. In reporting a general news article, a journalist will do research, conduct interviews, listen to recordings, write and respond to edits.

The Kinder Institute for Urban Research's Community Bridges program addresses urban inequality and poverty by pairing academic study and active fieldwork. Rice undergraduate students selected to be Community Bridges fellows simultaneously study the theories of urban sociology in the classroom and undertake internships with nonprofit organizations.
