Introduction The transition metal-catalyzed intramolecular cyclization/intermolecular cross-coupling reaction of alkene containing heteroatoms is a crucial strategy for constructing heterocyclic skeleton [[1], [2], [3], [4]]. In this reaction, metal species undergo intramolecular migratory insertion reactions with chain alkenes, resulting in the formation of alkyl metal species. These species then proceed to undergo cross-coupling reactions with another substrate.

Asynchronous breathing (AB) is common in mechanically ventilated (MV) Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients [[1], [2], [3], [4]]. It occurs when patient breathing is not synchronised with the ventilator support, often due to spontaneous breathing efforts [[5], [6], [7]]. The incidence of AB tends to increase with the duration of ventilator support, leading to compromised patient-ventilator interaction and increased work of breathing [[8], [9], [10], [11], [12]].
Triad resonance for internal waves in a uniformly stratified fluid: Rogue waves and breathers
Three-wave (triad) resonance in a uniformly stratified fluid is investigated as a case study of energy transfer among oscillatory modes. The existence of a degenerate triad is demonstrated explicitly, where two components have identical group velocity. An illuminating example is a resonance involving waves from modes 1, 3, 5 families, but many other combinations are possible. The physical applications and nonlinear dynamics of rogue waves derived analytically in the literature are examined.

Modeling ``crossing sea state'' wave patterns in layered and stratified fluids
Abstract Free surface waves with two or more spectral peaks propagating at an oblique angle to each other are commonly termed “crossing sea states”. Such crossing patterns have been suggested as possible causes for rogue waves and maritime accidents. Modulation instabilities of plane waves using coupled Schrödinger or Zakharov equations have been adopted as theoretical models in the literature. Here, extensions to layered and stratified fluids are conducted.
Long-term effects of lifestyle and metformin interventions in DPP on bone density
Abstract Summary In the Diabetes Prevention Program Outcome Study (DPPOS), a cohort at high risk of diabetes, randomization to intensive lifestyle intervention or metformin, both associated with weight loss, did not have long-term negative effects on BMD compared with the placebo group. Potential positive effects of metformin on bone warrant further investigation.
Model systems in heterogeneous catalysis: towards the design and understanding of structure and electronic properties
We discuss in this paper two case studies related to nano-particle catalyst systems. One concerns a model system for the Cr/SiO Phillips catalyst for ethylene polymerization and here we present XPS data to complement the previously published TPD, IRAS and reactivity studies to elucidate the electronic structure of the system in some detail.
