In situ particle-to-fibre transformation of hydrogels for 3D printing
Abstract Structural anisotropy is ubiquitous in nature and governs orientation-dependent properties and functions1,2. Recreating biomimetic anisotropy in hydrogels—water-rich soft materials widely used in biomedicine—has proven challenging3. Here we report a phenomenon termed shear-extensional in situ particle-to-fibre transformation (SHIFT) and demonstrate the SHIFT printing of highly aligned hydrogel microfibres (5–30 μm in diameter).

Metabolic orchestration driven by GGCT: diverting glutamine to glutathione biosynthesis while enhancing glucose anaplerosis for tumor proliferation
Abstract Glutamine (Gln) metabolism serves dual metabolic roles: it fuels the tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, while concurrently sustaining redox balance through glutathione (GSH) synthesis. γ-Glutamylcyclotransferase (GGCT), a key metabolic enzyme frequently overexpressed in various cancers, has an undefined role in directing glutamine metabolic flux during tumorigenesis.

An ancient genome duplication event drives the development and evolution of spinnerets in spiders
Abstract Key appendage innovations have driven the origin and expansion of arthropods, such as spinnerets enabling spiders to occupy three-dimensional space and diversify into more than 53,000 species. Here, we investigate the genetic basis of spinneret emergence in spiders by examining the complex history and functional importance of arachnid genome evolution.
Soft biodegradable implants for long-distance and wide-angle sensing - Nature
Abstract Monitoring internal physiological signals is essential for effective medical care1, yet most current technologies rely on external measurements or imaging systems that cannot capture enough deep-tissue dynamics2,3,4,5,6.

Medium from human iPSC-derived primitive macrophages promotes adult cardiomyocyte proliferation and cardiac regeneration - Nature Communications
Abstract Heart injury has been characterized by the irreversible loss of cardiomyocytes comprising the contractile tissues of the heart and thus strategies enabling adult cardiomyocyte proliferation are highly desired for treating various heart diseases. Here, we test the ability of human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived primitive macrophages (hiPMs) and their conditioned medium (hiPM-cm) to promote human cardiomyocyte proliferation and enhance cardiac regeneration in adult mice.
Phlorizin mitigates high glucose-induced metabolic disorders through the IIS pathway in Caenorhabditis elegans
Phlorizin mitigates high glucose-induced metabolic disorders through the IIS pathway in Caenorhabditis elegans† Phlorizin is a dihydrochalcone with various biological activities. To elucidate the mechanism of mitigating high glucose-induced metabolic disorders by phlorizin, the integrated approach combining metabolomics and gene expression profiling was used. The results demonstrated that phlorizin effectively mitigated the impact of high glucose on various growth indicators of C.

Self-bound vortex lattice in a rapidly rotating quantum droplet
A rapidly rotating Bose gas in the quantum Hall limit is usually associated with a melted vortex lattice. In this work, we report a self-bound and visible triangular vortex lattice without melting for a two-dimensional Bose-Bose droplet rotating in the quantum Hall limit, i.e., with rotation frequency Ω approaching the trapping frequency ω.

Liquid-gas transition and coexistence in ground-state bosons with spin twist
Abstract We study the thermodynamic liquid-gas transition and coexistence (LGTC) for ground-state bosons under contact interactions. We find that the LGTC can be facilitated by the mismatch of spin polarization, dubbed “spin twist,” between single-particle and interaction channels of bosons with spin degrees of freedom.

Development of drug-loaded polymer microcapsules for treatment of epilepsy
Despite significant progress in developing new drugs for seizure control, epilepsy still affects 1% of the global population and is drug-resistant in more than 30% of cases. To improve the therapeutic efficacy of epilepsy medication, a promising approach is to deliver anti-epilepsy drugs directly to affected brain areas using local drug delivery systems.
