INTRODUCTION Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most diagnosed cancer worldwide, making up 10% of all cancer cases in 2020, and is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths (9.4%) [1]. The primary treatment for patients with CRC is surgical resection, but treatment may also include chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and molecular targeted therapy [2]. A stoma, whether temporary or permanent, may be required as part of the treatment.
