Qinling Li’s Biography
Qinling Li is an independent director, producer, and editor. Born and raised in Changsha, Hunan, she studied and practiced journalism in China, Australia, and the United States. Despite her Master's in data journalism at Columbia Journalism School, Qinling unequivocally has more talent in filming scenes than writing codes. Her work has appeared on PBS Frontline, PBS American Masters, Newsy, Al Jazeera English, Newsweek, Atlas Obscura, Reason TV, and among others. In 2018, Qinling went back to her alma mater as an Adjunct Assistant Professor.
Qinling co-edited, "One of Many (2019)", which is an official selection at The Art of Brooklyn Film Festival and Out on Film, Atlanta's LGBTQ Film Festival. It won Best Short Documentary at Mindfield Film Festival. She is also the Director of Photography and editor for a 30-min film on the local history of Black LGBT art in D.C. "Fierceness Served!The ENIKAlley Coffeehouse (2021)" is an official selection at Black Alphabet Film Festival 2021 and DCInternational Film Festival 2022. In 2021, Her video reporting on the trans activists fighting for sex Worker freedom won the First Place award in the Gender and Society category, and her short film, "The Reawakening of the Black Gun-Rights Movement", won the Second Place award in the National Political/Government Reporting, at the Southern California Journalism Awards.
