1 Introduction Geological carbon sequestration (GCS) is widely recognized as a practical industrial approach for mitigating the adverse effects of greenhouse gas emissions, thereby contributing to the global pursuit of net-zero carbon targets (Lackner, 2003; Metz et al., 2005; Orr Jr, 2009). Saline aquifers, which possess sufficient capacity to store considerable amounts of CO2, are deemed as appropriate sites for the implementation of GCS (Korbøl and Kaddour, 1995).
