From spin liquid to magnetic ordering in the anisotropic kagome Y-kapellasite ${\mathrm{Y}}_{3}{\mathrm{Cu}}_{9}{(\mathrm{OH})}_{19}{\mathrm{Cl}}_{8}$: A single-crystal study
Abstract Y3Cu9(OH)19Cl8 realizes an original anisotropic kagome model hosting a rich magnetic phase diagram [Hering et al., npj Comput. Mater. 8, 10 (2022)]. We present an improved synthesis of large phase-pure single crystals via an external gradient method. These crystals were investigated in detail by susceptibility, specific heat, thermal expansion, neutron scattering, and local μSR and NMR techniques.
Heat conduction in herbertsmithite: Field dependence at the onset of the quantum spin liquid regime
Abstract We report thermal conductivity measurements on single crystals of herbertsmithite, over a wide range of temperatures (0.05–120 K) in magnetic fields up to 15 T. We also report measurements of the thermal Hall effect, found to be vanishingly small. At high temperatures, in the paramagnetic regime, the thermal conductivity has a negligible field dependence.
