Two of Hill's closest friends say she should be remembered for her loving nature and perseverance, not the violent manner of her death. They described Hill as a dedicated mother, a lifelong companion and someone who showed resilience in the face of life's challenges. Alyssa Hill was 14 years old when she lost her mom.

June 19, 2026, 12:10 a.m. ET Leandro Davila III was sentenced in federal court in Covington for sharing videos of him sexually abusing an 8-year-old girl he sometimes babysat. Prosecutors say Davila abused a single mother's trust by abusing the girl during times he watched her while the mom was at work. Davila then shared the abuse videos on an online messaging app to users around the world.

After Leandro Davila III was released from state prison in early 2025 for stabbing someone during an argument, he was embraced and befriended by a Newport woman, who trusted Davila enough to let him watch her young daughter while she was at work. Prosecutors say that Davila knowingly abused that trust by recording himself sexually abusing the 8-year-old girl and sharing the videos with people across the country and around the world.
