A new plan to restore nature in Lincolnshire has been described as “moving deckchairs on the Titanic” by the county’s leader. The Local Nature Recovery Plan aims to restore and expand the county’s natural features as part of a government initiative, writes Local Democracy Reporter Jamie Waller. However, leading Reform councillors said the plan would be meaningless while the government continued to approve huge solar farms and didn’t replace failing flood defences.

Half a million pounds could be allocated to help support community projects. It has been recommended that Lincolnshire county councillors back plans to allocate a total of £500,000 towards supporting local schemes and grassroot organisations across the county, writes Local Democracy Reporter Oliver Castle. Officials said the Councillor Community Grant Fund will help councillors to deliver initiatives which will benefit local residents.

South Holland and the Deepings MP Sir John Hayes recently attended a Parliamentary event where he met representatives from Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance team and learnt more about their vital work. Sir John spoke with members about the lifesaving emergency care they provide 24 hours a day. Since then, he has asked a question in Parliament about what the government is doing to ensure that all major trauma centres and specialist hospitals in Lincolnshire have on site helipad access.
