The Swedish government has appointed new chairs at two of the three remaining national pension buffer funds, as well as a new chair and vice chair at premium pension default fund AP7. Niklas Johansson, a board professional in the Swedish financial sector, became chair of AP2 on 28 May, replacing former AP7 chief investment officer Ingrid Albinsson, who has served as acting chair since 5 February. Albinsson will remain on the Gothenburg-based fund’s board as vice chair, the government said.

Icelandic pension funds Almenni-Lífsverk and SL have decided to start exploratory talks on a merger, potentially creating what would be the country’s fourth-biggest pension fund with combined total assets of ISK1.035trn (€7.2bn). The move is just months after Almenni-Lífsverk implemented its own merger.
