The ECochG signal is a superposition of multiple signals: (i) the auditory nerve neurophonic potential and (ii) the compound action potential (CAP), both originating from the auditory nerve; (iii) cochlear microphonic (CM) potential, and (iv) the summating potential (SP), generated by inner and outer hair cells and contributions by the auditory nerve (Johnstone & Johnstone 1966; Dallos 1973; van Emst et al. 1995; Sellick et al. 2003; Forgues et al. 2014; Pappa et al. 2019).
