The market for sustainable investment is rapidly evolving, ranging from specialist funds to the integration of ESG criteria into conventional pension funds (Alda 2021). The general expectation is that sustainable investment mechanisms will be pivotal for the transition to sustainable development (Marti et al.

1 Introduction Food waste is an urgent sustainability challenge (Kafa and Jaegler 2021). Although reliable measures remain scarce, estimates suggest that between 12% and 30% of edible food for human consumption is wasted globally each year (Graham-Rowe et al. 2014; Quested et al. 2013).

In this editorial, we would like to share recent developments at BEER with our community and discuss some journal performance metrics, not least in the light of the recent 2022 Clarivate Impact Factor announcement. We would also like to share some further improvement initiatives, including calls for Associate Editors & Editorial Review Board Members. But, before that, we would like to start with some exciting news—the appointment of Prof. Martina Linnenluecke as a new Co-Editor-in-Chief.
