This past week, the new animated short Apart, which is produced and written by Spike Lee, with Tim Jones, Jeff Lesiawitz and Lubabalo Mtati, premiered at the Tribeca Festival in New York in the prestigious “Animated Shorts Curated by Whoopie Goldberg” program. Set in the ‘80s, apartheid-era South Africa, the short centers on the ill-fated friendship between two young boys growing up in a racist society, and is directed by graphic artist and poster illustrator Pola Maneli.
