1 Introduction Isometric exercise with the Handgrip (HG) promotes acute hemodynamic changes, with an increase in systolic and diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and chronic changes, with a reduction of 5/4 mmHg, respectively, in hypertensive patients [1, 2]. The acute increase in peripheral vascular resistance (PVR) induced by isometric contraction with HG led Brignole et al. [3] to develop a protocol to control syncope, with 98% efficacy.
