Helical Folding of Abiotic Chiral Poly(phosphodiester)s
1 Introduction Biomacromolecules, such as proteins and DNA, are linear monodisperse polymers composed of a perfectly defined sequence of building blocks (22 amino acids for proteins and 4 nucleobases for DNA). Folding of these molecules into well-defined molecular architectures is one of the key features that define their functions.
A General Strategy to Access All Stereosequences in a Synthetic Polymer
Abstract Click to copy section linkSection link copied! The control of main-chain stereocenters in synthetic polymers remains a longstanding challenge, with traditional polymerization methods typically yielding only three types of well-defined stereosequences: isotactic, syndiotactic, and heterotactic. Here, we show that a broader range of stereochemical patterns can be accessed using iterative phosphoramidite chemistry.
