The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and accompanying xenophobic political rhetoric, elicited a dramatic rise in anti-Asian discrimination incidents in the United States (Stop AAPI Hate 2022). This surge in anti-Asian discrimination has magnified the need for Asian parents to communicate about race, ethnicity, and discrimination with their children, termed racial-ethnic socialization (Kiang et al. 2022).

To ensure that child care centers reopen — and can stay open so parents can return to work — the state must spend tax dollars to protect early childhood educators.
