Tricopper cluster complex functionalized carbon electrode: A strategy to overcome the overpotential and the production of hydrogen peroxide in the oxygen reduction reaction - Thiyagarajan - 2018 - Angewandte Chemie International Edition - Wiley Online Lib
A study of the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) on a screen printed carbon electrode surface mediated by the complex Cu?(7-N-Etppz(CH?OH)) dispersed on electrochemically reduced carbon black is described. Onset oxygen reduction potentials of ~0.92 V and ~0.77 V are observed at pH 13 and pH 7 vs. RHE, which are comparable to the best values reported for any synthetic Cu complex. Based on half wave potentials (E(1/2)), the corresponding overpotentials are ~0.42 V and ~0.68 V vs. RHE, respectively.

Selective catalytic oxidation of hydrocarbons is challenging. Here, we show how this chemistry could be accomplished for cyclohexane (C H ) at room temperature with good turnover numbers, excellent catalytic efficiencies, high conversion yields and product selectivity, when the catalysis is mediated by a tricopper cluster complex immobilized in the nanochannels of mesoporous silica nanoparticles.
