For most people, the library is a place to find a good book. But as a librarian of 33 years, I see the library as so much more. The library is a vital community hub for connection, learning and accessing essential services and personal needs. Much of the work we do, and support we provide to the community, is made possible because of the generosity of people and organizations across Charleston County.

Indiana joined many other states to have the Supreme Court overturn millions of votes in the 2020 election. The Republican Party must be their religion. Maybe if they lived under a dictator a few years they could appreciate their freedom. Indiana is a white supremacy state. Always has been. Indiana has a one-party government by manipulating districts and suppressing votes. Otherwise known as cheating. We deserve what we allow through blind political allegiance.

Letter to editor: Pray for the healing of this nation
The Bible mentions truth over 350 times. Today it means alternate facts. Truth never changes, It’s absolute no matter what we believe. The Bible tells us Satan is the father of lies. Our “leader” is a compulsive liar. Millions believe every word. Donald Trump was elected with help from Russia, white supremacists, and white churches. No surprise his role models are dictators. Hitler was put in power by Protestant and Catholic churches. He turned on those people and set up “his” church.
Letter to editor: We are not born with prejudice
We are not born with prejudice. It is taught directly or indirectly. As we age, we make the choice to either embrace it or reject it. Unfortunately, many embrace it. My own experience is one of a generation that had prejudice ingrained in our heritage. When I visited my grandmother, she sometimes sang a tune that was derogatory to black people and laughed afterwards. I was told not to trust black people. My father’s first cousin was arrested in the 1930 lynching incident in Marion, Indiana.
